Music and Family

Hi everyone, I decided to interview my aunt (my mom's sister) because I live at her house right now. This a short interview talking about how music had been part of her live since she was a kid.

I asked her if she like music and if she like to dance, and she said that the music had been part of her live since she was a kid. She describe how she love music and each time she is listening to something she start feeling more alive and very happy. Also describe that when she was in Acapulco, Guerrero (Mexico), there is music almost at any time like some groceries store or in some houses.

Other of the questions was "Who introduced you to the music that you like?". She said that everything started with my grandmother because sometimes in the morning she played music whenever she was cooking or cleaning the house. Also she said that her older sisters played a big roll in that part because when they were getting ready to go to a party they got excited and my aunt was one of the younger and there was a few times that her sisters took her to party and that's how she started getting introduced to music and the different kinds of genre. Everything started from the family and she expressed how happy she is now that she likes music and also dance.

She mentioned that one of her favorite music is called "Oye Mi Amor" by Mana. Each time she listened to that song is like she is going back to when she was younger and all the memories going back to her head.



One of the questions was about the genre that doesn't like since she was a kid or from the present and why?'
She start laughing because she say that the genre she never like was the heavy metal because that genre she just hear people screamed and that don't make her dance. Also she mentioned that whenever she listen a song from that genre her head started hurt and she doesn't understand anything about what they're saying.

She end saying that music is all about memories and how you relate to your live. Each music and each genre can be represented to one of your memories. She also say that music is a way that you can express yourself and your feeling. That's how she see music for her and how music had been part of her life during hard and also in great moments.

    Hello Victor, I really liked your post! I am very familiar with the first song you presented, "Oye Mi Amor" by Mana. My mom also listens to this song, and it has been a part of my life since I was a kid. I think it is a great song, and she got her music taste similar to how my mom got hers.

 The Music is always part in our lives. You can listen some music and make a great memory from that moment. For me there is a lot of different moment that I have been related with a song so every time a listen that song I remember that song. There is two song that I'm going to talk about it and one it's called "La Bachata" by Manuel Turizo, and the other one it's called "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. These two songs were part of great moments in my life that I never will forget. Each time a heard the songs, it's make me be happy and nostalgic. Music & Us: Our New Playlist

For this final blog, I wanted to explore music from four different cultures across the world, choosing a mix of traditional and modern songs. I picked  Morocco, Colombia, New Zealand, and Argentina  to show how music can reflect both history and contemporary life. Some of the songs are deeply traditional, like Gnawa from Morocco and the Māori haka from New Zealand, while others, like Colombian Cumbia/Champeta and modern Latin music from Argentina, show how cultures adapt their musical roots for today’s global audience.
